Draw Dominoes

The most popular way to play. Match tiles, draw from the boneyard when you're stuck, and be the first to go out. Quick to learn, endlessly replayable.

All Fives

Score points every time the open ends add up to a multiple of 5. Deeper strategy, bigger rewards. For players who want to think ahead.

Block Dominoes

The purest form of the game. No drawing — if you can't play, you pass. Simple rules, sharp decisions.

How to Play Dominoes

Dominoes is a tile-matching game played with rectangular tiles divided into two halves, each showing 0 to 6 pips (dots). Players take turns placing tiles to extend a chain, matching the pips on their tile to an open end of the chain.

A standard set has 28 tiles covering every combination from double-blank to double-six. Each player starts with 7 tiles, and the goal is to be the first to play all of them.

In Draw Dominoes, if you can't match, you draw from the boneyard (the reserve pile) until you find a playable tile. In Block Dominoes, you simply pass. In All Fives, you score points during play whenever the exposed chain ends total a multiple of 5.

Game Rules

Draw Dominoes

Goal: Be the first to play all your tiles.

Setup: Each player draws 7 tiles. Remaining tiles form the boneyard.

Play: Take turns matching a tile from your hand to an open end of the chain. The numbers must match. Doubles are played sideways.

Can't play? Draw from the boneyard until you get a playable tile. If the boneyard is empty, pass your turn.

Winning: First player to empty their hand wins. Score equals the total pips on your opponent's remaining tiles.

All Fives

Goal: Score points by making the open ends of the chain add up to a multiple of 5.

Setup: Same as Draw — 7 tiles each, remaining in the boneyard.

Scoring: Each time you play a tile and the exposed ends sum to 5, 10, 15, or 20, you score that many points. First to 100 wins.

Can't play? Draw from the boneyard until you find a match.

Block Dominoes

Goal: Be the first to play all your tiles.

Setup: Each player draws 7 tiles. No boneyard is used after the initial draw.

Play: Match tiles to the open ends. If you can't play, you pass.

Winning: First to empty their hand, or lowest pip count when the game is blocked.
